I'm starting my 1st vegetable garden ever & just started sowing loose leaf lettuce seeds. Here's a pic of the 1st guy up. I'm kinda stoked!

How's the lettuce coming? I had a raised bed with peppers and tomatoes but they were getting too much sun. i couldn't keep up with the watering. Since the raised beds drain so quickly and the Texas sun fries us I was getting very small veggies (or fruits in the case of the tomatoes).
ReplyDeleteHey Mark! sorry to hear of you veggie problems. I've been learning from a bit of my failures, too. All the seedlings that I started on my window sills in April died. Most died from trying to harden them outside. The good news for me is the lettuce that I started outside in May in containers & my raised bed are doing very well.
ReplyDeleteI just addd a post with a picture of a container lettuce.
Another thing I've recently learned is that I can sow leaf lettuce in rows a lot closer than I have. In my raised bed I only planted 2 rows, but just added a third row in the middle, but it may get too hot for those middle ones too fully grow. We'll see.
Live, garden & learn!
oh & I planted some Lima Beans 2 weeks ago in a new raised bed, & a few seedling have popped up. I'm "siked!!!"
